InstallFX
Install builder for live dotFX applications.
InstallFX allows developers of Java or JavaFX Script applications to create installer applications. The installer allows applications to be wrapped with the dotFX technology and any dependencies on the Java Virtual Machine. After install the end user of the software application gets all the benefits of a dotFX technology.
The InstallFX Tool
Developers using dotFX technology have the luxury of building their "write once run anywhere" applications without having to consider how they are started. Once installed on the server the applications can be started via an fx:// link or by wrapping that same link in a dotFX wrapper. InstallFX is the tool that wraps applications written in Java or JavaFX script.
Flexible
InstallFX supports customized installer branding and skinning, and allows customized background imaging. InstallFX like legacy install applications allows ReadMe and License files to be added. Platform specific icons can be specified or automatically generated from standard bitmap images like PNG or JPEG. Installers can be made in two basic forms; full installers and mini installers. Full installers include all application parts and all dependencies for Java or JavaFX applications. Mini-installers are smaller to download initially but automatically install, retrieve and install any required framework or Java components as the application runs.
Ease of Development and Scale
Development is easy. Build the installers once and output for the target install operating systems. These installers are now good for as long as the fx:// URI does not change. The applications will be instantly up to date even years later. Client applications from from a desktop icon, or from an fx:// link are always up-to-date thanks to dotFX. Now the installer does not need to be re-generated or coupled to the application release cycle. Windows and OS X installers can be made from just one platform, using either one.
